People often ask me: “What does an ideal resume look like?”

There’s nothing like an ideal resume when it comes to applying for different roles but there are a few pointers that one should lay focus on:

✅Length of the CV:
People with less than an year of experience should not have have their resume exceeding more than one page (keep it crisp and concise)

People aiming for a senior position, with 5+ years of experience can make it to 2 pages.

✅ Differentiating between important and trivial information:

Things to include: Name, Phone number, Email ID, Location

Things to Avoid: Signature, Declaration, Marital Status

✅Professional Photo:
Adding a professional photo goes a long way. Refrain from using selfies/full photo.

(Save that for dating/matrimonial apps xD)

✅Say no to Objective, instead replace it with Career Snapshot:
Summarise your professional details in about 5-6 lines (leave something for the interview too xD)

✅ Use of strong action words:
Incorporating words like “achieved,” “established” can help you stand out from others while describing your current/past roles.

✅Demonstrate result with numbers and metrics: It’s always a good idea to measure your success with numbers.

✅ Profile links: Recruiters these days prefer to screen the candidates basis their LinkedIn profile, before speaking to them over call.
Save their time by adding URL link.

✅ ATS friendly:
A lot of companies make use of ATS (Applicant Tracking System) to collect and scan resumes.
Making it ATS friendly by incorporating specific keywords, could increase the chances of you getting shortlisted.

✅ Proofread, Proofread and Proofread:
Can’t emphasize enough on how important it is to ensure that your resume is error-free, as far as grammar is concerned (not to forget, spellings too)
